The Giants Causeway….my favourite spot

Image
So it was up early took a little walk before breakfast found a 7-11 type place to get a coffee, then back to the hotel for more coffee and another huge breakfast…possible why I napped so much on the bus.  Our first stop of the day was at the Giant’s Causeway, a Unisco Heritage site.  I’m not sure why but was looking forward to this place the most of any spot on the tour.  It’s a very unique spot along the oceans with hundreds of hexagon shapes rocks? Lava? That all fit together at different heights. Just a cool place to check out.  When we arrived we were taken thru a lovely gift shop, offered  a audio thing that told information on the walk then shown a gentle curving road to the ocean were the hexies awaited us.   Rounding the curve we found them Now there are two stories of how the Giants Causeway came to be you will find a Utube video on a separately  post following this post….couldn’t figure out how to put it here 🤨😜 So getting back up to ...

So up early big breakfast and on the bus, listen to Simon give us a rundown of the day and fall asleep.  This would be repeated every day.  Not sure if it was the big breakfast or the rocking of the bus but I had more naps on the bus than any other vehicle I’ve ever been in,  kinda understand why babies fall asleep on car rides now . Our first stop today was in Downpatrick.   Had a coffee/ toilet break. Mmmm scones.  Then a short walk up the hill to Down Cathedral and an interesting little cemetery with St Patricks grave. The Cathedral inside and out  St Patricks grave You might be able to zoom in and read this if no….sorry.  What. It says  St. Patrick was born in Britain. At 16 he was captured and taken to Ireland where he was wold into slavery. He escaped into France, but one night in a dream he heard the voice of the Irish calling him back. How Patrick answered that call and brought Christianity to Ireland is one of the most splendid chap...

Well it’s our first full day in Ireland I woke up  to Gina returning from a walk, apparently I had talked to her before she left but I have only her word on that, I have no memory. We got up had a big breakie then headed out for a walk meeting Ellen and Jean coming down for breakfast apparently they waited to hear from us and we were letting them sleep.  Had a great walk exploring the neighborhood. Lots of little shops….doctors accountants hair dressers pubs and a Tesco which is a grocery chain.  Grocery stores are really interesting, kinda looks the same but called something slightly different and their chocolate is far superior   This was actually found in the corner shop  found later in the day apparently turkeys get a special foil 😳. Who knew. We also stoped in a little butcher shop on the way back, interesting stuff there too coffee to crackers , to jars of various condiments and I think there may have been meat. Met up with the other two caught a ca...
